With the release of Set 13, Eternal Phoenix, some cards gained a lot of fame. One of these cards was undoubtedly Pacific Champion, a card with a lot of potential. An excellent power to mana cost ratio, 2mana 5k; it is an Evolution Creature belonging to the Merfolk race. To me, Pacific Champion looks like some kind of coral sea-monster with a three-faced weapon, the trident, in his hand. He is also holding some source of light and some weenie creatures are standing at his feet. He truly looks like the owner of the whole sea!
The Merfolk are humanoid aquatic creatures with fish-like characteristics. They don't have legs, instead, they have long fishtails that give them unsurpassed speed and skill in water. Whilst variations exist, Merfolk tend to be slimly built with shimmering blue scales and ornately finned skulls. Most Merfolk societies are rigid, militaristic monarchies with extensive standing armies. The signature weapon of most Merfolk soldiers is the trident, a long, three-pronged spear that's easier to use underwater than any type of swinging blade or bludgeon. Despite the size of their armed forces, few Mer civilizations are aggressive; the armies mainly serve to defend the kingdom from aggressive sea creatures such as Leviathans. There are not many Merfolks in which to evolve Pacific Champion. Some famous Merfolks include Wily Carpenter, Time Scout and Pacific Champion.
Pacific Champion can be targeted easily by destructive spells like Apocalypse Vise, Mechadragon's Breath, Terror Pit and Natural Snare. To prevent this happening, we can put cards like Petrova, Channeler of Suns, Pala Olesis, Morning Guardian and other power giving Creatures/Spells in our decks. Make a deck revolving around Pacific Champion, other Merfolks, power-giving Creatures/Spells and an Anti-Discard System like Terradragon Arque Delacerna, Bingole, the Explorer, Sanfist, the Savage Vizier and you won't be disappointed.
Now, I will make an example deck to show you the importance of Pacific Champion in a deck.
Creatures:-
4 * Pacific Champion
2 * Melodic Hunter
2 * Tide Patroller
3 * Time Scout
3 * Wily Carpenter
3 * Aqua Hulcus
3 * Aqua Strummer
4 * Petrova, Channeler of Suns
4 * Pala Olesis, Morning Guardian
3 * Rumbling Terahorn
2 * Terradragon Arque Delacerna
4 * Innocent Hunter, Blade of All
4 * Courtney, Fairy of the Summer Breeze
3 * Sanfist, the Savage Vizier
Spells:-
3 * Energy Stream
2 * Crystal Memory
2 * Holy Awe
2 * Natural Snare
3 * Soulswap
In reference to the deck above, Pacific Champion can pull off some very nice combos. As we all know, Pacific Champion can only be attacked and blocked by non-evolution creatures. If we boost its power through Petrova, Channeler of Suns and Pala Olesis, Morning Guardian, it will be really hard to beat. Through Aqua Strummer or Pulpy Goobie we can arrange the position of Pacific Champion and other Merfolk in our decks.
Pacific Champion is really very strong early on in the game. If you manage to get it out quickly and then you summon Petrova and/or Pala Olesis, it sure will be a tough game for your opponent.

Advantages:
- It has an excellent Power to Mana cost ratio.
- It has one of the best abilities ever seen in Duel Masters.
- It can be involved in some very nice combos.
- It belongs to a good Civilization.
- The picture's freakin' awesome.
Disadvantages:
- Is an Evolution Creature which makes it a little difficult to summon.
- Belongs to a not-so-famous race.
- There are not many good and cheap Merfolks to evolve it into.
- It is banned in most of the tournaments.
- It is restricted to only 1 in Japanese play.

I think that the card deserves 8/10 for being an awesome card. The marks get deducted for all those disadvantages and the fact that it belongs to the Merfolk race which does not contain many good cards.
